Alleyway Plaza is a linear space oriented east to west, mid block between East Market and East Jefferson Streets in downtown Louisville. The space is 1.1 acres and it provides a means of cross-campus pedestrian circulation, a place for informal gathering, and a vibrant urban space for public events. Intersecting waves delineate walking paths, seat walls, planters, tree alignment, and lighting
placement. The long, narrow space and flowing lines suggest movement, replacing Nanny Goat Strut Alley with a green pedestrian alley. The Plaza also features a below grade infiltration reservoir that handles on-site storm-water runoff.
